This project will entail the removal of a steel support column and the addition of steel to support the existing building structure. The overall scope will be as follows: Ô? The acoustical ceiling grid and tile adjacent to the steel structure to be modified will be removed and the surrounding area will have fire protection installed. Ô? The structural steel beam spanning 34Ô?-4Ô? Will be raised by jacks on both sides of the center beam that is to be removed. Ô? Once the beam is elevated Ô¢Ô? Above the existing center column, the column will be removed and the engineer required steel will be installed. Ô? Upon the completion of the install of the added steel support the work will be inspected by the city of atlanta. If it passes the acoustical ceiling grid and tiles will be replaced.
