One boring with a diameter of three to four inches will be installed to a maximum depth of four feet below ground surface for the purpose of soil sampling. The boring will be located in an off-roadway area, on the northern side of the block, feet west of the travel lanes of the anacostia fwy. As the boring is shallow, only hand tools will be needed to perform the work. Construction equipment will not be used. Staff will park in an area that allows street parking and will walk to the sampling location. Upon sampling completion, the boring will be filled to one foot below ground surface using bentonite chips and restored to existing surface cover at grade. The work will take approximately two hours. The work will not occur in an area that impedes vehicular or pedestrian traffic. If necessary, the sampling location can be moved based on ddot comments.
