The division e - m street diversion sewer project is intended to address consent decree requirements to control overflows from cso 015 and to consolidate csos 016 and 017. Overflows will be intercepted at the existing combined sewers by constructing diversion chambers and diverted flows will be conveyed to the anacostia river tunnel (art) by a series of diversion sewers constructed along m street se. Diversion chambers will be constructed along m street se to intercept csos 015, 016 and 017 at 9th, 12th and 14th streets se, respectively. Staging areas will be restored to original or better condition. Staging area at water st will remain to be in use for the future art project (under a separate permit).
