The emory church is listed in the national register of historic places. Archeological research and field assessment has confirmed the presence of archeological elements on the property related to both the emory church and the civil war military use of the property. In order to mitigate the loss of archeological resources prior to construction on the property, a mitigation work plan that details the archeological research was approved by the dc historic preservation review board and dc historic preservation office.
