Home inspector said the electrical wires coming into the house over the deck are ok. The concern is when you are standing on the deck you can reach the electrical lines. Would like to know if this is legal/up to code standard. Pjk; february 27, 2013 5:16: pm jreese. I visited this property and measured the distance from deck floor to service wire to house it was 8 foot 8 inches up to 9 foot. The code even in the mid 90/s was foot. It is closer than code but does not appear to be a safety hazard unless you purposed to touch it. There is however a code violation due to a deck being constructed after the electrical service was installed. We cannot assist in any way with the correction. Please close case on my behalf.
