Construct alterations and additions to existing marine cargo terminal (port of seattle terminal 5), occupy per plan.

Installing branch circuits to circulation fans for terminal 5. Fans furnished and installed by mechanical contractors.

Install two radiant heaters for the gen-set and tire shop.

Install (6) propeller fans in power shop, container, & chasis shops, install (2) inline fans for high bay.

The port is requesting a shoreline substantial development permit exemption for site exploration and investigation activities that are necessary to prepare accurate geotechnical and structural calculations required to support the pending application of project number 6448272. The investigative work proposed involves installation of two sets of test piles with pile instrumentation for the purpose of characterizing and verifying structural and geotechnical pile capacity, piling size, drivability, pile lengths, and pile load deformation response. A secondary goal of the test pile program is reducing cumulative construction noise by minimizing pile lengths and pile numbers as a result of more detailed geotechnical and structural knowledge from the tests. These activities are exempt under smc 23. 60a. 020. C. 12.

Shoreline substantial development application to allow improvements to existing container cargo facility (terminal 5). Project includes removal and replacement of portions of pier structure, including crane rails, decking and piling, dredging of 48,0 cu. Yds. Of sediment, and under pier slope stabilization. Project also includes installation of an electrical substation and utility upgrades. Environmental impact statement is being prepared by the port of seattle.

The proposed project involves the removal of derelict in-water structures at the north end of terminal 5 in elliott bay. Work includes the removal of approximately 2,2 creosote-treated timber piles, associated structural materials (bents, pile caps, sacrificial elements, deck boardsing), andany identified debris that interferes with piling removal. Piling removal will take place between 10 1 2017 and 2 15 2018 using vibratory and mechanical methods. Piles will not be replaced. In addition to removing timber piling, the project will also include removal of fill material from behind a vertical sheetpile wall adjacent to the shipway and pier 26. Approximately 25 cubic yards of fill will be removed andthe slope recontoured to 2:1, then armored with 2 of rip-rap from the mudline up to +15mllw. Slopes above +15mllw will be stabilized with hydroseeding and or woodchips. Following fill removal, the sheet pile wall will be cut off at the mudline.
